F/X (also released in other English-speaking countries as "FX - Murder by Illusion"), the 1986 Robert Mandel special effects crime action thriller ("Rollie Tyler is the movies' best special effects man. Now somebody wants him to do it for real. But is he the weapon or the victim? Is it murder or is it... F/X"; "Murder by illusion"; "Written by Robert T. Megginson & Gregory Fleeman"; about a special effects expert who fakes a mob-killing for a witness protection plan, and then gets caught up with the actual mob) starring Bryan Brown, Brian Dennehy, Diane Venora, Cliff DeYoung, Jerry Orbach, and Angela Bassett (in her first credited movie role!). Note that this movie did not do very well on its first release in theaters, but it proved extremely popular on video and on cable, and a sequel, F/X2, was made five years later!
