Date Sold 4/13/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical German Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 9" x 11 3/4" [23 x 30 cm]) (Learn More) A Blonde Dream, the 1932 Paul Martin & Robert Stevenson German musical romantic love triangle comedy (one of the co-screenwriters was a very young Billy Wilder, credited as "Billie Wilder"!) starring Lilian Harvey, Jack Hulbert, Cicely Courtneidge, Sonnie Hale, and Edward Chapman. This was an English version of "Ein Blonder Traum" and there was also a French version ("Un reve blond"), both also made by UFA in 1932. Universal did the same thing with "Dracula" in 1931. They filmed the movie twice, once in English, and once in Spanish, with two entirely different casts, U.S. actors for the English version and mostly Latin actors for the Spanish version, obviously for release in Spanish speaking countries, and the same was done with this movie, except there were three versions (the German language version also starred Lilian Harvey, with Willy Fritsch as her co-star, and the French version also starred Lilian Harvey, with Henry Garat as her co-star). So some of the cast members were in more than one of the three versions (no doubt based on how many languages they spoke!), and Paul Martin directed all three, but he had a co-director to help with the non-German languages. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare "country of origin" German lobby card from this pre-World War II movie! Very few items survived the war, due to paper shortages and bombings during the war, resulting in the destruction of most German posters, lobby cards, and stills! Also note that this lobby card measures 9" x 11 3/4" [23 x 30 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Condition: very good to fine. Other than some very minor defects around the edges, the card is in quite nice condition, especially considering its age and origin! Learn More about condition grades
