An Original Vintage Theatrical 9 1/2" x 10 1/4" [24 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Cyrano de Bergerac, the 1950 Michael Gordon France swordsman-poet romantic love triangle melodrama ("The most loved of all love stories"; "Fabulous hero! Famous nose!"; based on the superb play by Edmund Rostand; about the best swordsman in France who is also a poet and author, but he has an extremely large nose, which prevents him from declaring his love for his beautiful cousin, and circumstances cause him to end up helping his rival win her hand!) starring Jose Ferrer (billed as "America's first actor"; "Academy Award Winner ...because... he was the Three Musketeers in one ... and one lover in a million!"; winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Cyrano), Mala Powers (as Roxanne), William Prince (as Christian), Morris Carnovsky, Ralph Clanton, Lloyd Corrigan, Virginia Farmer, and Elena Verdugo NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that for this special movie, the studio created the most amazing still! It has an extra 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" area at middle right, which allows the viewer to fully see just how large Cyrano's nose was! This certainly cost quite a bit extra to produce, and no doubt made it complicated to ship (because it "stuck out" from the rest of the stills it would have been with)! Note that there is a snipe on the back that not only describes how the artificial nose was made, but it also suggests that Ferrer would win the Oscar "by a nose", and in fact, he did win! Also note that this still measures 9 1/2" x 10 1/4" [24 x 26 cm]. Condition: very good. There are some creases around the edges of the still and the snipe on the back is fragile.
