eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result #086 MYSTERIOUS PILOT linen ch14 1sh '37 Date Sold 11/20/2001Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter 14 One-Sheet (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Mysterious Pilot, the 1937 Spencer Gordon Bennet action adventure airplane aviation serial ("Sensational battles far above the Earth!"; "Thrill-filled drama... with the fastest man alive!"; purportedly written by L. Ron Hubbard, creator of Scientology) starring Frank Hawks (billed as "Capt. Frank Hawks"), Dorothy Sebastian, Rex Lease, Guy Bates Post, Kenneth Harlan, Clara Kimball Young, Esther Ralston, and Yakima Canutt. Note that star Frank Hawks had been an ace pilot in World War I, and after the war, he became a professional pilot, setting several speed records. In 1932, he appeared in two films, one of them a short, and then he starred in this movie five years later, and those were his only three film roles. Sadly, the following year, he passed away, dying in a plane crash at age 41 (and he was not in an experimental plane or doing stunts). Also note that, apparently, the person who made this serial had a love of silent movies, because some top stars from the silent days showed up in supporting roles in this serial! Most of the linenbacked posters we sell were restored by the finest professionals. An expertly linenbacked poster will often appear "mint", as its defects have been made to "vanish". We are the only seller we are aware of who always tries to describe the condition of the poster prior to being linenbacked, so you are fully aware of what restoration was performed. If you are not knowledgeable about restoration, Click HERE to learn about linenbacking. Condition: very good to fine. The poster has had minor restoration on the foldlines and to repair holes in the corners, but otherwise, it appears the poster has had next-to-no restoration. Whoever restored this poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges, but the borders of the poster are not harmed in any way. Learn More about condition grades
