eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5d092 MANPOWER insert '41 George Raft & Edward G. Robinson over sexy Marlene Dietrich, ultra rare! Date Sold 3/12/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Manpower, the 1941 Raoul Walsh power-company-road-crew melodrama ("Here's that T.N.T. star-combination that had the news wires sizzling!"; "A Warner Bros. Hit!"; "The Sensational new Warner Bros. hit!"; "TNTrio!"; "All together") starring Edward G. Robinson ("He's mad about Dietrich!"), Marlene Dietrich ("She's mad about Raft!"), George Raft ("He's mad about the whole thing!"), Alan Hale Sr., Frank McHugh, Eve Arden, Walter Catlett, Ward Bond, Joyce Compton, Lucia Carroll, and Barbara Pepper. Note that this was the first time that Robinson and Raft worked together, and they had a very bad relationship on the set, to the point where George Raft physically struck Edward G. Robinson, and Robinson threatened to walk off the picture! Not surprisingly, they only made one more movie together, and that was 14 years later! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has a much more striking and different image than that of the one-sheet! A talented restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the defects described below, and then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. The restoration was done really well, and the poster displays really well! Note that the poster is flexible enough that it can be rolled into a 6" tube, but we would much prefer to send it in a flat package (but we will send it in a tube if the new owner insists and accepts responsibility for it). What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was gel backed (see above). This particular poster had creases and scuffs on the folds, with smudges, creases, small tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges. The poster was gel backed by a talented professional and expert restoration was performed to the above defects. The poster displays well, and it still completely feels like an unrestored poster. But it did require airbrushing in much of the white background areas, and after it was backed, someone put a small piece of clear tape in the center of the top and bottom blank borders, and they also handled the poster roughly, causing some slight border defects, and two small tears near the top of the right border (see our image).
