An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

For the Love of Pete, the 1936 Lloyd French boxing sports comedy short (based on the classic Joe Palooka comic strip "Originated by Ham Fisher") starring Robert Norton ("Palooka"), Shemp Howard ("Knobby"), Lucy Parker ("Mother"), John Berkes (billed as "Johnnie Berkes"), Richard Lane, Michael Dennis, Charlie Althoff, Buddy Buehler, and "Rex". Note there had been a movie based on this comic strip in 1934 that starred Stu Erwin as Joe Palooka. This was the first in a series of shorts that came out starting in 1936 and continuing into 1937, all with Robert Norton as the cartoon boxer.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tears and areas of paper loss in the middle horizontal fold and in the bottom half of the vertical foldline, with a few tears and small paper loss on the other folds. There was a 1 1/2" area of paper loss in the top center of the poster, in the area between the first "A" and "L" of "PALOOKA", slightly entering both letters. The poster had a few tears and paper loss in the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
