An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11 1/4" x 17 1/4" [29 x 44 cm]; 24 pages) (Learn More) Gold Diggers of 1935, the 1935 Busby Berkeley romantic acting theater musical sequel ("Bigger than even before! A new thrill for movie-goers!"; "At last-Warner Bros sumptuous successor to the World-Famous 'Gold Diggers of 1933'"; "At last-First National's sumptuous successor to the World-Famous 'Gold Diggers of 1933'"; there is a loose plot about the guests at a luxury hotel, all connected to show business, but really it is just there to string together the many songs and dances) starring Dick Powell, Adolphe Menjou, Gloria Stuart, Alice Brady, Hugh Herbert, Glenda Farrell, Frank McHugh, Joe Cawthorn, Grant Mitchell, Dorothy Dare, Winifred Shaw, and Ramon and Rosita. Note that Busby Berkeley had directed the music and dance sequences in Gold Diggers of 1933, but the movie was directed by Mervyn Leroy. For this sequel, Berkeley was assigned to direct the movie as well! There was a second sequel made two years later, "Gold Diggers of 1937". There were also a few other "Gold Diggers" movies made in the 1930s! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. The pressbook was removed from a bound volume and there are tiny bits of paper loss down the spine, and someone put clear tape down that area. Otherwise, it is in pretty nice condition.
