Mel Torme (born Melvin Howard Torme) was a singer from the 1940s to the 1990s who appeared in a few movies. He was born in 1925, and was singing since he was 3, and was a musical prodigy. As a teenager he played the drums in Chico Marx's band, and in the early 1940s he formed his own group, "The Meltones", and went solo in the late 1940s. His first acting role was in the 1943 Frank Sinatra movie, "Higher and Higher", when he was just 18. He also wrote several books including biographies of Judy Garland and Buddy Rich, and he also wrote popular music, including The Christmas Song. He had a legendary smooth voice, and he was nicknamed "The Velvet Fog"! Torme passed away in 1999 at the age of 73.
Important Added Info: Note that this canceled check has been personally autographed (signed) by Mel Torme!
