4p0145 MARRIAGE CIRCLE signed TC 1924 by Florence Vidor, Ernst Lubitsch's second U.S. movie, rare!

An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 10" x 13" [25 x 33 cm]) (Learn More)

The Marriage Circle, the 1924 Ernst Lubitsch silent romantic love triangle marriage infidelity comedy (based on the play 'Only a Dream' by Lothar Schmidt; the "circle" of the title refers to several couples where one couple lusts after another's spouse, and their are some misunderstandings about who is interested in who!) starring Florence Vidor, Monte Blue, Marie Prevost, Adolphe Menjou, Creighton Hale, and Harry Myers. Note that this was German director Ernst Lubitsch's second movie after coming to America. His first was "Rosita" with Mary Pickford, and the director and star clashed constantly, and the movie was not well received. But this movie was a big success, and it helped establish Lubitsch's reputation in America (which continued to grow over the following decade)!

Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been personally autographed (signed) by Florence Vidor! Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic.

Note that ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a scene card (two times) from this movie, and no other movie paper at all, until we received this title card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 10" x 13" [25 x 33 cm].

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.

Condition: good. The card was trimmed, but it appears that only blank white borders were affected. It was once glued to a mat and there are many glue stains on the back, but they do not really affect the front. There are two tiny areas of paper loss in the top border and some stains in the upper left blank border. There are smudges to the lower right of the title (see our image). Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
