An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Texas Gun Fighter, the 1932 Phil Rosen cowboy western ("Recorded by RCA PHOTOPHONE") starring Ken Maynard, Tarzan (billed as "with his famous horse 'Tarzan'"), Sheila Bromley, Harry Woods, Lloyd Ingraham, and Jim Mason. Note that the IMDb says that the title of this movie is "Texas Gun Fighter", but the first release movie posters have "Texas Gun-Fighter" (and we suppose it might also be known as "Texas Gunfighter"). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). OR you can't see the restoration because it was so well done, but the poster had fairly significant defects. OR no restoration was performed, but the defects are not major, and restoration could be done to the poster without re-backing it. See below for its pre-restoration defects (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had paper loss at each crossfold and small areas of paper loss across the top foldline. There was an 8" tear in the middle of the right border extending to near the woman's shoulder. The poster had missing pieces and tears in the blank borders, and the person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). Overall, the poster looks quite nice, as the restoration was really expert, and is really only noticeable when you look from quite close up. From any distance away, the poster looks great!
