An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) They Live By Night (released in Australia as "The Twisted Road"), the classic 1948 Nicholas Ray romantic doomed romance crime film noir ("'Cops or no cops I'm going through!'"; "We're in a jam!"; "You're crazy to stick to me... But I'd rather die than let you go!"; "The headlines screamed their crime... But they told only half the story. Would YOU give these kids another chance?"; "TWO KIDS... Outside the law! Desperate... Hunted... Yet so in love! This is their story, the one the screaming headlines never told!"; a sort of romanticized "Bonnie and Clyde" story, with a young man forced into a life of crime, and his girlfriend who wants to help him "go straight", but is it too late?) starring Cathy O'Donnell ("Keechie: A tender heart in a tough world. All a girl can do to help the boy she loves.... Keechie does!"), Farley Granger ("Bowie: Just a kid... who's seen too much of the crooked side of life... not enough of the straight!"), Howard da Silva ("Chicamaw: He's a guy you can trust... to knife you in the back when he gets sore!"), Jay C. Flippen ("T-Dub: Knows but one law... his own! Has but one weapon... a gun!"), William Phipps, Ian Wolfe, Helen Craig (as Mattie Mansfield), and Will Wright (as Mobley) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed with no excess linen, and it was displayed on a wall for many years, and over that time, the red of the title has changed from a deep red to a light red, but the rest of the poster does not seem to be hardly faded at all (likely it was only the bottom one-third of the poster that was exposed to light).
