Date Sold 1/18/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Three Little Pigskins, the 1934 Ray McCarey football sports mistaken identity slapstick comedy short (about a gangster who thinks the Stooges are famous football players, and he hires them to play for his team, and miraculously, they manage to win the big game!) starring The Three Stooges (Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Curly Howard), Lucille Ball, Gertie Green, Phyllis Crane, and Harry Bowen. Note that Lucille Ball had one of her earliest important roles as a gun moll! Also note that director Ray McCarey was the younger brother of famed director Leo McCarey. While he never achieved the success of his brother, he DID work in many genres, and he had the distinction of having directed Laurel and Hardy, Our Gang, and The Three Stooges! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still was reused by a news agency in 1936, and there is a stamp on the back of "AUG 5 1936", but we believe this to surely be an original 1934 still that was reused two years later. Also note that someone hand wrote "Howard, Fine & Howard", which is what the Stooges were known in their earliest shorts after they split with Ted Healy! Note that we don't know who the female football player in this still is, but we are pretty certain it is NOT Lucille Ball. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
