An Original Vintage 7" x 9" [18 x 23 cm] News Photo (Learn More)

Harpo Marx (born Adolph Marx) was an actor from the 1920s to the 1960s. He is best remembered as the Marx Brothers lovable mute (he never spoke in any of the movies!) and for his curly red hair, top hat, and horn. He acquired his nickname because he was an expert harpist, which he would play in many of his movies. Some of his movies include: Duck Soup, A Night at the Opera, Horse Feathers, A Day at the Races, Animal Crackers, and Monkey Business. Harpo passed away in 1964 at the age of 75.
Important Added Info: Note that this news photo shows a happy Harpo announcing his secret marriage to Susan Fleming, which had taken place two months before. Miss Fleming was 20 years Harpo's junior, and she had been a somewhat film star in the early 1930s, but she hated the business, and when she met Harpo, she relentlessly pursued him and finally got him to marry her in 1936. Many people were surprised that their marriage lasted the rest of his life, until 1964, when he passed away on their 28th wedding anniversary. She lived another 38 years, passing away in 2002 at the age of 94. Also note that this news photo measures 7" x 9" [18 x 23 cm].
