An Original Vintage Folded French "Affiche" Poster (23x32; measures 23 1/4" x 31 1/2" [59 x 80 cm]) (Learn More) Mathurin, the late 1940s French animated animation cartoon stock poster (with taglines that translates to "Your big favorite Popeye is here this week") promoting cartoon shorts starring Popeye the Sailor, Olive Oil, Swee'Pea and Bluto. We don't know why this poster is called "Mathurin". Perhaps that was Popeye's name in France. We have seen an Argentinean stock poster from the 1940s for Popeye where he is called "Espagueti"! Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good.
