King Kong was reissued many times, but several of the reissues had two-color artwork. All of the items from the 1942 re-release had brand new artwork, and ANY material from the 1942 re-release is difficult to find (perhaps it was because of World War II and paper drives, or perhaps because the movie was quickly re-released several more times, which likely caused the 1942 re-release paper to be used up or destroyed). We have only auctioned this poster three times before, and only once in the last 14 years! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had darkened somewhat, more so in the blank borders. It had small tears, separation, and tiny paper loss scattered on parts of several folds, with some pinholes and tears around the edges. Someone put tape on the back of a number of those areas. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see slight signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
