An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, the classic 1982 Steven Spielberg (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) science fiction (sci-fi) alien family fantasy melodrama ("His Adventure on Earth"; "He is afraid. He is totally alone. He is 3,000,000 light years from home."; "Written by Melissa Mathison"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Dee Wallace, Peter Coyote, Henry Thomas ("as Elliott"), Drew Barrymore (in her second movie role!), and Robert MacNaughton

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that when this movie was first released, some 27" x 41" posters with the bike over the moon image were created and were personally distributed by Steven Spielberg only and are virtually impossible to find. Shortly after those were made, the studio created the 26 3/4" x 40 1/2" bike over the moon posters for the first regular release, and that is the poster we are offering here (and this style of poster is indeed difficult to find, much more difficult than the other styles created for this movie). Please bid knowing that this is the original 26 3/4" x 40 1/2" first general theatrical poster, but that it is NOT from the small run of posters personally distributed by Spielberg prior to these being printed! Please also note that that we know that there are many reproductions of this poster, and one of the ways to tell if it is an original is by the measurements. We want bidders to know that this poster is 100% original! For those who know the exact measurements of the original, know that we carefully measured the poster and confirm that it measures almost exactly 26 3/4" x 40 1/2" (reproductions are smaller), and that the top blank border measures almost exactly 13/16" and that the bottom blank border measures almost exactly 3/4", and that the left and right borders are almost exactly 7/8". The reason we say "almost exactly" on each of the measurements is because they are no longer "exactly" those measurements, because the poster very slightly changed size during the linenbacking process, but this almost always happens when a poster is linenbacked. We are certain it is authentic, and you can bid with confidence that this poster is 100% the original theatrical poster from 1982!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some creases and scuffs around the edges, with a slightly diagonal scuff running across the top of the credits area at bottom. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. Backing the poster has greatly reduced how noticeable the creases and scuffs are. You only notice them by looking at the poster from an angle, but looking at the poster straight on, it displays well.
