Date Sold 5/7/2024 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 4 Original Vintage Theatrical (measure from 7 3/4" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] to 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]) Movie Stills (Learn More) Temptation, the 1935 Oscar Micheaux black African American romantic crime melodrama ("A great colored cast"; about an artist's model known for her beauty but she faces social isolation because she poses in the nude and she ends up in a notorious nightclub and inadvertently gets entangled in a murder case involving a gangster who establishes a rival numbers game which ignites a violent gang war in Chicago!) starring Andrew Bishop (billed as "Andrew S. Bishop"), Ethel Moses, Lorenzo Tucker, Hilda Rogers, and 'Slick' Chester. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1935 movie paper items from this early black African American movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a single one-sheet from this movie, and one 8x10 still, until we received this completely different group of four stills (and the one-sheet was 32 years ago)! Note that this is one of 10 sets of stills from "all black movies" from the 1930s and 1940s that we were recently consigned, and are currently auctioning in 10 separate auctions. Movie paper of any kind from the first releases of these movies is extremely rare, because these movies only played at the movie theaters that had only black patrons. First release one-sheets are very rare, but so are first release lobby cards and stills. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase one or many of these sets, some of which may not be seen again for many years! Condition: good to very good.
