The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle, the 1939 H.C. Potter biographical vaudeville dancing romantic musical comedy ("Dramatic! Thrilling! Beautiful!"; "The Texas Tommy"; "The Maxixe"; "The Castle Walk"; "The Tango"; "At last Fred and Ginger in a great Dramatic Love Story!"; "Adaptation by Oscar Hammerstein II & Dorothy Yost") starring Fred Astaire (in the title role as Vernon Castle), Ginger Rogers (in the title role as Irene Castle), Edna May Oliver, Walter Brennan, Lew Fields, Etienne Girardot, and Janet Beecher. Note that this was the last of the nine wonderful movies that Astaire and Rogers made between 1933 and 1939 (they made one final movie, "The Barkleys of Broadway", ten years later in 1949).

Important Added Info: Note that this poster is printed on the back of part of a map! Why is this? During World War II, there were massive paper shortages in Belgium. Where Belgian movie posters had previously been approximately 23" x 32", there was such a shortage of paper that not only did they often have to print them on the back of other posters or maps, but during World War II, the size of the posters shrank dramatically, with some of them as small as 11" x 15". This situation continued even after World War II, until around 1946 or 1947, when they began making Belgian movie posters in a size of roughly 14" x 22", which became the standard size, and continued for decades! The posters like these that are from during World War II or immediately after, and which are printed in a small size (often on the back of other posters or maps) are INCREDIBLY rare (surely they did not print many, and surely many of them were soon recycled themselves!

Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded across the middle and it had a snipe (likely with play dates) glued to the top blank border. The snipe was neatly trimmed off, but there is the paper from the bottom of the snipe glued to the top blank border. The poster was printed on the back of part of a map, and you can see signs of the lines from the map in all the light colored areas of the poster, but not so much except when the poster is held to the light. Otherwise, the poster is in pretty nice condition!
