An Original Vintage Linenbacked World War I Poster (measures 20 1/2" x 28" [52 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Kosciuszko Pulawski, the 1917 U.S. World War I (WWI) recruitment poster (with taglines that translates to "Kosciuszko & Pulaski fought for liberty in America. Can you help America fight for freedom in Poland? Eat less sugar, wheat, meat, fats so that we can support our brothers fighting in the allied armies") aimed at Polish-Americans, and featuring George Illion art of Tadeusz Kosciuszko. Kosciuszko and Casimir Pulaski were Polish heroes who took part in the American Revolutionary War (Kosciuszko survived the war but Pulaski was killed at the Battle of Savannah). Artist: Illion Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had many brown water stains around the edges with a few scattered in the poster. There were tears and a few tiny areas of paper loss in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking.
