An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Feathered Serpent, the 1948 William Beaudine Asian detective crime mystery thriller ("Earl Derr Bigger's character") starring Roland Winters ("as Charlie Chan"), Keye Luke (as Lee Chan), Mantan Moreland, Victor Sen Yung (as Tommy Chan), and Robert Livingston. Note that this is the only Charlie Chan movie we can remember where he had two sons, where one was not very young. Since the main purpose of the son was for Charlie to have someone to explain everything to, we are not clear why he had two sons in this movie! If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned an example of this poster before! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster has some creases, faint smudges and scuffs scattered in various areas (see our image). There are what appear to be red paint stains in the title, on Winters' sleeve, and in the "HA" of "CHAN". There are creases along portions of the folds. After proper restoration the very rare poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
