An Original 1947 (from the first release of this movie in France) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 45 1/2" x 62" [116 x 157 cm]) (Learn More)

Syn Polka (released in the U.S. in 1947 as "Son of the Regiment"), the 1946 Vasili Pronin Russian Soviet World War II (WWII) military orphan comedy melodrama (about a group of soldiers on the front lines who "adopt" a war orphan) starring Yuri Yankin, Aleksandr Morozov, Pavel Volkov, Nikolay Parfyonov, and Grigori Pluzhnik. Note that according to a 1947 U.S. newspaper article, child actor Yuri Yankin was actually a war orphan who had a similar experience to his character. Another article claims that after the film was released, his father turned out to be alive and was reunited with his son after the father saw the film.

Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this World War II Russian movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a small Czech poster from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this French one-panel!

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had paper loss in the right of the top border and some creases and scuffs scattered in the image, with a few small tears. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
