An Original 1956 (from the first release of this movie in Sweden) Vintage Theatrical Folded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27 1/4" x 39") (Learn More) Le Jour se Leve (released in the U.S. as "Daybreak"), the classic 1939 Marcel Carne French romantic love triangle crime murder melodrama (perhaps the first French film noir, with a tragic anti-hero at its center, and the movie is said to have greatly influenced the 1940s U.S. film noirs, which in turn led to the 1950s and 1960s French New Wave; the movie opens with a man killing his romantic rival and then barricading himself in his room, and while he awaits certain death from the police, he reflects over the events that led him to this tragic ending) starring Jean Gabin, Jules Berry, Arletty, Mady Berry, R. Genin, A. Devere, Bergeron, Bernard Blier, Beres, Germaine Lix, Jacqueline Laurent, and Jacques Baumer. Note that the title of this movie more closely translates to "sunrise", but it could not be released in English with that title because of the classic Murnau movie of the same name, so it was released as "Daybreak" instead! There is a water stain in the background at lower left. There are some areas of paper loss and 1 1/2" and smaller tears around the edges of the poster with one on the right of the bottom edge repaired with tape from the back.
