An Original Vintage Linenbacked French World War I Poster (measures 31 1/2" x 45" [80 x 114 cm]) (Learn More) On Les Aura! (literally translates to "We'll Get Them!"), the 1916 French World War I (WWI) War Bond poster ("2e Emprunt de La Defense Nationale") encouraging citizens to buy war bonds, and featuring Abel Faivre art of a French soldier. Note that there is a U.S. World War II poster that has a soldier in an extremely similar pose to this, and that poster has "We have just begun to fight!" at the top. Obviously, the artist of that poster (unknown to us) drew his inspiration for his poster from this French one! Artist: Abel Faivre Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds and in parts of the borders. It had some smudges and stains scattered in the background areas. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
