An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 7 3/4" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) The Last Outlaw, the 1927 Arthur Rosson silent cowboy western ("Story by Richard Allen Gates"; Gary Cooper is a sheriff in a tough town, and he has to hunt down a wanted outlaw, and unfortunately, the outlaw is the brother of the girl he wants to marry) starring Gary Cooper, Jack Luden, Betty Jewel, Herbert Prior, Jim Corey, and Billy Butts NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in early 2021, we auctioned a wonderful candid from this movie that showed Betty Jewel pretending to "rope" Gary Cooper, and that still sold for $205. This one is even better, because it shows Cooper and Jewel on the same horse facing each other, and Cooper is pretending to choke her! Note that this is one of ten wonderful Gary Cooper stills from the late 1920s and early 1930s that we were consigned, and are auctioning in ten separate auctions. Each comes from the same collection that contained the twenty rare Gary Cooper stills from the same time period that we auctioned in February 2021, and those were truly wonderful stills, and three of them auctioned for over $1,000 each, and the current ten stills include some equally wonderful ones! These stills were purchased by celebrity Johnny Crawford many years ago, when he purchased an incredible collection of stills that also included great early Laurel and Hardy stills (and we also have eight of those in eight separate auctions). Mr. Crawford first came to fame as the son in the TV series "The Rifleman" and later became a band leader loved movies, and early on he collected many stills and lobby cards. These ten rare early Gary Cooper stills were consigned to us from his collection! Note that this still is a key book still, mounted to a linen backing. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the left of the still. Condition: very good. The left 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above). Otherwise, the still is in nice condition!
