An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Over the Goal, the 1937 Noel M. Smith romantic college football sports crime comedy ("The greatest gridiron hit in years"; "You'll cheer those heroes of the pigskin"; about a college football star who is injured, and he promises his girlfriend he won't play in the big game, but at the last minute, she decides she can accept him playing, so then crooks who bet on the other team kidnap him, but everything works out in the end) starring William Hopper, June Travis, Johnnie Davis, Mabel Todd, Gordon Oliver, Eddie 'Rochester' Anderson, Hattie McDaniel, Carole Landis (in an uncredited bit part as a co-ed!), and "a great cast of stars". Note that star William Hopper was the 22 year old son of famed columnist Hedda Hopper, who pushed him into acting, but his heart wasn't in it. After some minor roles, he got this lead role, but did not get noticed from it, and after some more minor roles, he went into the military during World War II, and afterwards, spent nine years as a car salesman! He finally got a big break when he was cast as Paul Drake in TV's "Perry Mason"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good. card has darkened slightly (typical of Warner Bros. linen cards of this period), but the card is not at all fragile; there are several tiny areas of surface paper loss in the lower left border; a 1/4" tear in the same area (repaired with tape from the back), and paper loss in the bottom left blank corner; other than the above, the card is in pretty nice condition!
