An Original Vintage Unfolded Political Campaign Poster (measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Earl Warren was a politician, serving as the 30th Governor of California, and in 1948, he was Thomas E. Dewey's running mate, running for Vice President. Had Dewey won that close election, Warren would have been Vice President, but because they lost, he became a judge, and he was the 14th Chief Justice of the United States from 1953 to 1969. It has been suggested that he was appointed so as to remove him from running against Eisenhower & Nixon in the 1956 presidential election. Warren is perhaps most famous for being appointed the chair of what became known as the Warren Commission, formed to investigate the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Warren passed away in 1974 at the age of 83. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that because this item is backed onto linen and has many creases, we don't want to roll it, because we believe it will crease the poster further to roll it. So it will be sent in a large flat package. Condition: fair to good. The poster is backed onto a thin linen. It was either not well backed or roughly handled after backing, or both, because it is now heavily creased throughout. Obviously, it can be removed from the backing and re-backed, which would greatly improve its appearance, but bear this in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
