An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28") (Learn More)

Girls of the Road, the 1940 Nick Grinde delinquent bad-girl hobo melodrama ("Where are we headin' for? Take a look, folks!"; "Girl hitch-hiker disappears!"; "Girl hobo murdered!"; "Homeless girls arrested for vagrancy!"; "Meet the hunted girls of the female hobo 'jungles'!"; "Meet the girls of the female hobo 'jungles'!"; "They're 'on the road'... and it's all down-grade!") starring Ann Dvorak ("'I'm KAY! Don't judge me by the company I keep... I'm the governor's daughter!'"), Helen Mack ("'I'm MICKEY! Don't ask me no questions, and I won't tell you no lies!'"), Lola Lane ("'I'm ELLY! I'm boss of the 'jungle' and I'll smack any dame startin' trouble!'"), Ann Doran ("'I'm JERRY! I look out for myself... and don't nobody get in my way!'"), Marjorie Cooley ("'I'm IRENE! I'm getting' married, and I'm saving fare to buy a wedding dress!'"), and Mary Field ("'I'm MAE! I shot a man once, and I've been travelling fast ever since!'"). Note that this movie was a low budget imitator of the classic 1933 movie "Wild Boys of the Road". But by 1940, a movie like this was getting dated, and Columbia tried to improve it by hiring actresses who had starring roles at major studios (Dvorak, Mack, and Lane), but it still was very much a "B" picture!

Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards.

Condition: good to very good. The poster had heavy creases along both foldlines and pinholes in the corners. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, and paperbacking has decreased how noticeable the foldline creases are, but you can see signs of them.
