An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Mickey Spillane's Kiss Me Deadly, the 1955 Robert Aldrich romantic crime film noir melodrama ("Blood-red kisses! White-hot thrills!"; "Mickey Spillane's Latest H-Bomb!"; "'I, The Jury' ' The Long Wait' and now Mickey Spillane strips down to naked fury"; "'I don't care what you do to me, Mike - Just do it fast!'") starring Ralph Meeker (as Mike Hammer), Albert Dekker, Paul Stewart, Juano Hernandez, Leigh Snowden, Cloris Leachman (in her first credited movie role!), Gaby Rodgers, Marian Carr, Maxine Cooper (as Velda), Jack Elam, and Jack Lambert. Note that it is thought that this movie was a major inspiration for the French New Wave movies of the 1960s. Also note that in the late 1990s, United Artists discovered the original filmed ending (director Aldrich had been forced to change it by the studio)! Finally, note that Mickey Spillane was a department store salesman in 1940 when he discovered he could sell stories for comic books, and he quickly wrote for all the major companies. After Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Air Force and became a fighter pilot. After the war, he wrote "I, the Jury" in 19 days, and it was published in 1947, and it sold 6.5 million copies in the U.S. alone. Its hero, Mike Hammer, a hard-boiled private eye, would appear in many more novels. Spillane would write for the movies, and he even played Mike Hammer in "The Girl Hunters" in 1963! The poster had small paper loss at the top crossfold and some tiny bits of paper loss on small parts of some folds, and some tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. It appears that after the poster was backed, it was displayed in such a way that the left one-quarter of the poster was exposed to sunlight, and that area of the poster changed color where there are now greenish elements to the poster that should not be that color. It is a significant defect, but the poster could still be displayed and enjoyed. However, bear in mind this defect before bidding and look closely at our super-sized image to see what we are talking about. Learn More about condition grades
