Note that she is often referred to and thought of as an Indian actress, but actually, that was a persona that she created to give her a distinctive appeal in movies, and she was actually born Joan O'Callaghan to a Welsh father! She also had a long and tempestuous relationship with Marlon Brand o (she was his first wife). Kashfi passed away in 2015 at the age of 80.
