What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some folds. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that the area where the top piece joins the rest of the poster has the tagline that reads "MAN-SMUGGLING". The people who printed the poster did not care enough to make sure that the portions of the two pieces with those words aligned perfectly. There is no way to have laid down the pieces so that the word "MAN-SMUGGLING" matched correctly. So the linenbacker put them where some of the letters did match (see our image). One can either accept that this is how the poster was printed, or one could have a restorer paint some of those letters to make them look like they are correct, but that will be the choice of the new owner of this poster.
