An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French Two-Panel "Double Grande" Movie Poster (2p; measures 63 1/4" x 90 3/4" [161 x 231 cm]; printed in 2 pieces) (Learn More) Chansons de Paris (literally translates to "Songs of Paris"), the 1934 Jacques de Baroncelli French musical rags-to-riches best friends comedy (about a street singer who is discovered and becomes famous, and he rejects his old best friend, but when he realizes that his new "friends" are exploiting him, he abandons them and returns to his friend from the streets) starring Georges Thill (a real life opera singer with a magnificent voice!), Armand Bernard, Louisa de Mornand, Jacques Varennes, Simone Bourday, Yvonne Claude, Paulette Elambert, and Ginette Gaubert. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned an example of this poster before, which is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie! It is an extremely rare French poster from before World War II! Virtually no French posters survive from before World War II since apparently there were many paper shortages in Europe during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all posters from before and World War II, and also from during the war, and the first few years afterwards. Also note that this French two-panel measures 63 1/4" x 90 3/4" [161 x 231 cm]. Finally, note that this French two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Condition: good.
