An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) Virginia Mayo (born Virginia Clara Jones) was an actress from the 1940s to the 1990s. At 17, she was a member of the St. Louis Municipal Opera, and she was signed to a contract by Samuel Goldwyn, but she was far from an overnight success! David O. Selznick gave her a screen test, but did not think she had a future in films, and it was not until years later in the early 1940s that she finally got some good roles. But once she had success, she hung onto it for a long time, continuing to have good parts through the 1950s! Some of her mostly Warner Bros. movies include: The Best Years of Our Lives, White Heat, Wonder Man, Backfire, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and A Song Is Born. She passed away in 2005 at the age of 84. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Virginia Mayo! Note that this still is a key book still, printed on a deluxe heavyweight paper stock. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the top of the still. Note that our consignor purchased a collection of autographed stills that were collected by Leonard Sorgi, who was a unit manager for ABC for shows like The Soupy Sales Show, The Jerry Mahony Show, and many others. He was also Unit Manager for the Academy Awards for a number of years, and during his long and varied career, he met many celebrities and obtained autographs from them in person (often personalized to him). Our consignor (and we) feel certain that the autograph on this still is authentic! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good. The top 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above). Otherwise, the still is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
