Date Sold 2/1/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 3 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Half Human: The Story of the Abominable Snowman (released in the U.S. simply as "Half Human"), the 1957 Kenneth G. Crane & Ishiro Honda Japanese/U.S. horror science fiction (sci-fi) melodrama ("1400 pounds of frozen fury that moves like man!"; "Half-man, Half-Beast but All Monster!") starring John Carradine, Russ Thorson, Robert Karnes, Morris Ankrum, Momoko Kochi, Akira Takarada, and Sachio Sakai. Note that this movie has a really interesting back story to it. It was actually made in Japan by Toho in 1955 and it was called "Ju jin yukio toko", and it was directed by Ishiro Honda. This was the year after Gojira was made, and the following year, Gojira was successfully released in the U.S. as "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" (with added Raymond Burr footage), and that success gave Toho the idea of doing the same with some of its other movies (the first was "Varan, the Unbelievable"). This was the second, with added scenes of John Carradine directed by Kenneth Crane. Both Varan and this movie did terribly at the U.S. box office, and that was the end of that idea! Worse yet, the original Japanese version apparently remains locked in Toho's vaults, and has not been seen since 1955! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good.
