An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Silk Stockings, the 1957 Rouben Mamoulian romantic love triangle musical comedy ("Suggested by 'Ninotchka' by Melchior Lengyel"; with "Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter"; "Big, Bouncy and Beautiful on the Big Screen!"; "It's got that hot beat in top-hat and tails.... 'The Ritz Roll and Rock'"; "The song sensation that's all excitement and enticement... 'Satin and Silk'"; "The gay life in the city of romance sun in 'Paris Loves Lovers'"; "High jinx and hilarity set to Russky rhythm in 'Hail Bibinski' and more"; "Book of Original Musical Play by George S. Kaufman") starring Fred Astaire, Cyd Charisse, Janis Paige, Peter Lorre, Jules Munshin, George Tobias, and Joseph Buloff. Note that there had been a non-musical version of this story under the title "Ninotchka" in the 1930s with Greta Garbo in the lead role. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had tiny paper loss at the top and middle crossfolds and separation across the top foldline, and some minor wear on the other foldlines. There was a tear and some paper loss in the center of the top blank border. There were some pinholes, creases, and tears in the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well. Learn More about condition grades
