Date Sold 5/16/2019 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Docks of New Orleans, the 1948 Derwin Abrahams Louisiana Asian detective waterfront mystery crime thriller ("Suggested by Earl Derr Biggers' character") starring Roland Winters ("as Charlie Chan"), Virginia Dale, Mantan Moreland, John Gallaudet, Victor Sen Yung (billed as "Victor Sen Young"), George J. Lewis, Douglas Fowley, Harry Hayden, and Carol Forman. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. Most have varying amounts of pinholes around the edges and a few light scuff marks scattered in a few areas. The card with Winters at center (to the lower right of the title card in our image) has a small tear in the lower right edge that has been repaired with tape from the back. The card with the men fighting at center has some staining on back but it has little or no effect on the front. It has a few minor border defects. The title card is in nice condition. The cards otherwise are in pretty nice condition and they have no tape whatsoever on the front or back, and they never have had any restoration of any kind! Learn More about condition grades
