An Original Vintage Theatrical Chapter #1 (The Purple Death) Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Captain America, the 1944 Elmer Clifton & John English Marvel Comics (at the time known as "Atlas Comics"!) comic book superhero crime fighting fantasy serial ("Based on the Character appearing in Captain America Comics"; "A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters") starring Dick Purcell (in the title role as Captain America; he died just a few months after shooting finished), Lorna Gray, Lionel Atwill, Charles Trowbridge, George J. Lewis, and John Hamilton. Note that this was the very first Marvel Comics character to be turned into a movie, and we don't know how faithful the adaptation was (in the movie, Captain America uses a gun, and we don't remember him ever doing that in the comics!). Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. The card had pinholes, tears, and smudges around the edges. A talented restorer gel backed the card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the card still exactly looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can see very slight signs of the restoration, but the card displays really well! Learn More about condition grades
