Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Vitaphone for use for all entries of their "Vitaphone Novelty" series. This particular stock poster was printed in the 1930s. Theaters would order this poster, which had a large blank square in the upper left. They would be sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, and they could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. Note that this poster has a cool film strip design, with scenes from specific Vitaphone shorts in the frames of the film, and they include Edgar Bergen & Charlie McCarthy, a magician doing a card trick, travelogs, and many others!. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. The poster had paper loss at the bottom two crossfolds and creases, tears, and some tiny paper loss on parts of some foldlines and around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
