An Autographed 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" [6 x 11 cm] Cut Index Card (Learn More) Julia Marlowe (born Sarah Frances Frost in 1865) was an English-born stage actress from the 1890s to the 1920s. When she was 4, her family moved to the U.S. She began performing in her early teens on the stage in Cincinnati in Gilbert & Sullivan and later Shakespeare. She moved to New York, got voice training, and changed her name to Julia Marlowe. In the late 1880s, she got her first Broadway roles. She became the leading Broadway actress alongside actor E.H. Sothern, who she married in 1911 (it was her second marriage) until he passed away in 1933. Some of her works include: Colinette (in the title role), When Knighthood Was in Flower, and Hamlet (as Ophelia). She passed away in 1950 at the age of 85. Important Added Info: This cut index card has been personally autographed (signed) by Julia Marlowe (she signed with her married name Julia Marlowe Sothern)! It could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display! Note that this is one of a wonderful collection of 91 items that were assembled by a collector decades ago, mostly from RR Auctions, which has auctioned signed items since 1976. The person who purchased these items passed away several years ago, and while he did not save most of the certificates of authenticity he received when he bought these signed items, almost all were purchased between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, and we think it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is genuine. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good. There is a small stain at the top of the cut index card, but otherwise, it is in nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
