An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (11x14; LC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

The Captain Hates the Sea, the 1934 Lewis Milestone all-star high seas sailing romantic adventure screwball comedy ("A tidal wave of laughs!"; "All aboard the looney liner!"; "Story and Screen Play by Wallace Smith"; this was Columbia Pictures' answer to MGM's Grand Hotel, except set on a ship, and they put most of their top stars in the movie, but of course, they were not on the level of MGM's stars!) starring Victor McLaglen, John Gilbert (in his final role and the only time he didn't work with MGM), Alison Skipworth, Wynne Gibson, Helen Vinson, Walter Connolly (in the title role as Captain Helquist), Fred Keating, Leon Errol, Walter Catlett, Tala Birell, and the Three Stooges (Moe Howard, Curly Howard, and Larry Fine). Note that this John Gilbert sound movie, like all his sound movies, completely dispels the myth that he had a high-pitched speaking voice, which ended his career! Actually, he had a fine speaking voice, and there is much speculation as to what it was that actually ended his career, and that can be found in various places on the Internet, but it was definitely not his voice! Also note that The Three Stooges play musicians, and that only Larry has any lines, which he delivers with a Yiddish accent!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.

Condition: fine. There is a very light scuff mark in the woman's image at left. The card is in otherwise quite nice condition! Note that the card is completely unrestored and there is no restoration of any kind or tape on the front or back of the card.
