An Original Vintage Linenbacked Belgian Film Festival Poster (measures 18 1/2" x 25 1/2" [47 x 65 cm]) (Learn More)

Exposition Du Dessin Anime (literally translates to "Animation Exhibition"), the 1946 Belgian poster promoting a cartoon animation exhibition to take place at the Palais Des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Belgium from November 23rd to December 20th. Note that this poster features Schell art of a mouse drawing Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse with a pencil, with a film strip wrapped around the mouse. While searching for information about this really cool poster, we found an image of another poster for the same exhibition that had a large artwork headshot of Donald Duck. If anyone knows more about this poster or this exhibition (which may have been the first cartoon exhibition), please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had a number of partial and complete horizontal creases scattered throughout, with some other creases and scuffs scattered in the image. It had a tear and creases in the green area behind the bottom of the mouse. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
