An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]) (Learn More) Belle of the Nineties (some movie paper was prepared with the working title "It Ain't No Sin"), the 1934 Leo McCarey riverboat entertainer romantic comedy ( "Mae West.... in the picture the whole country is talking about"; about a sexy cabaret entertainer who has a tough boxer boyfriend, but who attracts the attention of every man who sees her) starring Mae West, Roger Pryor, Johnny Mack Brown, Katherine DeMille, John Miljan, Libby Taylor, and Duke Ellington's Orchestra. Note that the movie's working title was "It Ain't No Sin", but the censors refused to allow it, and it was changed, even though some posters exist with that title. They tried to change the title to "St. Louis Woman", but the residents of that city protested, and their next title was "Belle of New Orleans", but they received similar protests, and they settled on the non-controversial "Belle of the Nineties"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, as noted above, this poster has the original working title for this movie. There are also window cards with the final release title, "Belle of the Nineties". Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 18" [36 x 46 cm]. Condition: good. The card had a blank top and 4" of it was trimmed off. The card has darkened somewhat. It had a V-shaped tear in the top left, starting in the bottom of the "E" and extending slightly into West's hair, but it is mostly in the background. Someone put tape on the back of that area. There is also a small tear and tiny paper loss in the upper right border and a diagonal scuff mark in the upper right background area. There is some uneven darkening around the edges. This is the sort of card that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the darkening can be removed through chemical means, after which the card will look fantastic. Learn More about condition grades
