An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Benson Murder Case, the 1930 Frank Tuttle detective mystery crime thriller ("The greatest of them all!"; based on the novel by S.S. Van Dine; in this entry in the Philo Vance detective series, the producers incorporated the stock market crash of 1929 into the plot, and the story focuses around a crooked stock broker who is murdered at a lodge, and all of the guests are suspects, because he has swindled many of them out of money, but Vance sorts things out!) starring William Powell (as Philo Vance), Natalie Moorhead, Eugene Pallette, Paul Lukas, William 'Stage' Boyd, and E.H. Calvert. Note that William Powell first played Philo Vance in 1929's "The Canary Murder Case" and after the character proved very popular, he followed it the next year with "The Greene Murder Case", after which Basil Rathbone took over the role that same year in "The Bishop Murder Case". After Powell played Vance again in "The Benson Murder Case" (which was also made in a Spanish language version with an entirely different case), he then played him one more time in "The Kennel Murder Case" in 1933, but the character also appeared in ten more movies between 1934 and 1947, with other actors in the lead roles. We have only previously auctioned a window card, five jumbo lobby cards (four of which were in the 1990s), one lobby card, and several stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this lobby card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card had much staining on parts of the back of the borders, but fortunately, it did not show through to the front. It had two diagonal creases in the top left corner and a tiny one in the top right corner, and someone put tape on the back of those areas. The card displays well, but you can see signs of the creases in the top left corner. Learn More about condition grades
