An Original Vintage Folded Half Subway Movie Poster (measures approximately 30" x 45" [76 x 114 cm]) (Learn More) Gimme Shelter, the 1971 Charlotte Zwerin, Albert Maysles, & David Maysles rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) music concert documentary ("The music that thrilled the world... and the killing that stunned it!"; "The fantastic Rolling Stones concert at Altamont, California where 300,000 young Americans went wild."; "Altamont changed a lot of people's heads") featuring The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Ike and Tina Turner, The Grateful Dead, and Dick Carter. This is the movie that covered the Altamont concert where the Hell's Angels were invited to be in charge of security. They were responsible for the brutal beating and stabbing death of Meredith Hunter, an 18 year old black African American man. There were also three accidental deaths. The movie shows performances, violence, Grace Slick and Mick Jagger's attempts to cool things down, close-ups of young listeners (dancing, drugged, or suffering Angel shock), and a look at the Stones later as they watch concert footage and reflect on what happened. Important Added Info: Note that the one-sheets from this movie are auctioned regularly, but this poster is extremely rare! We have only auctioned it once before! We know it is from the first release of the movie, because in 1972, the "GP" rating became a "PG" rating, so this poster must be from 1971 or earlier, because of that earlier rating. We have seen it auctioned on other auction sites, where it was incorrectly measured, and described as a 27" x 41" one-sheet, when that is completely wrong, as it is actually a "half subway" (see below for more on this). Also note that around this time, studios were creating "subway posters" for many releases, which were 45" x 60" horizontally-shaped posters that were glued up on walls all over New York City (hence the name "subway poster"). They also made these smaller "subway" posters which measure approximately half the size of a regular "subway" poster (usually around 29" x 45"), and look like a one-sheet, only bigger, but they have information about one or more specific New York theaters then-currently showing that movie. Condition: very good. There is minor wear along the foldlines as well as a few light creases. There are two small patches of slight discoloration in parts of the upper right and left blank borders. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and it displays well. Learn More about condition grades
