Date Sold 9/12/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Campaign Book (measures 11 1/2" x 15 1/2" [29 x 39 cm]; 34 pages) (Learn More) Columbia Pictures 1936-37, the 1936 campaign book featuring images and information for upcoming Columbia movies for those years. In the early 1930s, Columbia published deluxe campaign books each year, but in 1935, they started their in house publication, "Columbia Mirror", and they made the studio yearbook for 1935-36 issue number 11 (July 29, 1935) of that magazine, even though the regular issues were only 12 or 16 pages. However, the following year, they again made a large standalone campaign book, and it seems they likely continued that the next few years (although only a few of those have ever surfaced). This campaign book has full-color and sepia pages, and there are many single pages on their top stars and single pages on upcoming movies. The highlight of the book is a full-color centerfold on Frank Capra's Lost Horizon, with signed James Montgomery Flagg art. Naturally, Frank Capra also received a full page at the beginning of the book. There is a great full-color page at the end for Color Rhapsody cartoons. Of special interest to Three Stooges collectors is a third of a page devoted to Three Stooges two-reel comedies, with great different art of Moe, Larry, and Curly (see our many images). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this campaign book! Also note that Columbia signed Edward G. Robinson away from Warner Bros. just as this book was going to the publisher, and Columbia printed a special supplement page, the same size as the ones in the book, and it promotes their Edward G. Robinson movie, "Thunder in the City". They inserted this supplement page in with the campaign book, because it was too late to include it as one of the regular pages (see our image of this supplement page). Condition: very good. There is scuffing and some small stains on the covers, but otherwise, the book is in really nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
