Date Sold 11/21/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 5 1/2" x 8" [14 x 20 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Norma Shearer was the great MGM leading lady of the 1920s and 1930s. She was married to studio head Irving Thalberg in 1927, and that seemed to greatly help her career, and his untimely death in 1936 seemed to coincide with the decline of her career. But that is probably really unfair, because while her marriage to Thalberg greatly helped her get top parts, she did wonderfully in many major movies! Some of her movies include: Romeo & Juliet (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Barretts of Wimpole Street, Marie Antoinette (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Divorcee (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Escape, Free Soul (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Their Own Desire (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and The Women. She passed away in 1983 at the age of 80. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Norma Shearer! Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer in the 1970s and 1980s, and he purchased a large collection of signed items from Sterling H. Bond, who had collected autographs for many years (starting in the early 1930s). Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signature is authentic. Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 5 1/2" x 8" [14 x 20 cm]. Finally, note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good to very good. The still was trimmed (we don't know the original size). There is glue and paper residue on the back where it was attached to mat. Learn More about condition grades
