Together We Live, the 1935 Willard Mack anti-Socialist anti-labor-union family relationship melodrama ("One man's family! Fighting! Loving! Hating! A new generation... crushing his ideals... mocking his standards... until a bombshell of trouble made them cry out... Together We Live"; "With an all-star cast") starring Willard Mack, Ben Lyon, Esther Ralston, Sheila Bromley, Hobart Bosworth, and Wera Engles. Note that this was a VERY unusual movie. Star/writer/director Willard Mack had been a silent actor in the early 1910s, who became a screenwriter, and wrote many movies in the 1920s and 1930s. This was apparently his "Citizen Kane", as, like Orson Welles, he wrote it, directed it, and starred in it. But the movie was severely outdated in that its plot seemed more set at the turn of the 20th century, with sons of a Civil War veteran being accused of being Socialist, because they support workers joining a labor union and being able to strike, something that was a major issue in the 1890s. One wonders if Mr. Mack didn't write this story decades earlier, and then he finally got the chance to make it, and he didn't bother to update it! One also wonders how much of a release this movie had, since, other than a single pressbook, we have never seen any movie paper from it whatsoever! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
