An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures approximately 29" x 43") (Learn More) Arabian Nights, the 1942 John Rawlins desert romantic action adventure thriller ("Walter Wanger's mighty production") starring Jon Hall, Maria Montez (as Scheherazade), Sabu Dastagir (billed as "Sabu"), Leif Erikson, Billy Gilbert, Edgar Barrier, Shemp Howard, Thomas Gomez, Turhan Bey, Elyse Knox, Acquanetta (in her first film), and Carmen D'Antonnio NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This Argentinean poster measures approximately 29" x 43" and is linenbacked. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not restorated at all. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would greatly benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). There was paper loss at the crossfolds. There were many tiny creases, small tears, and small areas of paper loss along the foldlines. There were many pinholes around the edges of the poster, and the borders were tattered and much of the borders have been painted over. The restoration was not all that good, as you can see signs of the restoration from a distance away, and oddly, the restorer did not replace the missing background area at the bottom crossfold. If I owned this poster, I would have additional restoration performed, or better yet, re-back the poster. Learn More about condition grades
