Wells' The War of the Worlds, the classic 1953 Byron Haskin science fiction (sci-fi) Martian extraterrestrial alien invasion action thriller ("From the ends of the universe... they are reaching for YOU!"; produced by George Pal; loosely based on the classic novel by H.G. Wells; about seemingly unstoppable aliens invading the Earth) starring Gene Barry, Ann Robinson, Les Tremayne, Robert Cornthwaite, Lewis Martin, and Ann Codee NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that almost all collectors agree that the 1965 re-release posters from this classic movie have a far superior image to that of the original 1953 posters! In addition, this poster was always far more rare than the one-sheet from the first release (perhaps it only had a limited re-release in 1965). In 2017, we auctioned this poster for the first time, and it auctioned for $4,596. In 2019, a collector made an amazing find of five examples of this poster, and we auctioned five of them in 2019 to 2021, and they auctioned for between $3,400 and $4,504. NOW WE HAVE BEEN RECONSIGNED ONE OF THOSE FIVE ONE-SHEETS, SO IT IS STILL ONLY ONE OF SIX OF THESE POSTERS WE HAVE AUCTIONED. When this poster is sold, there will be no more for us to auction, so unless there are more found (or someone reconsigns another one of the six we have auctioned), we will likely not auction this poster for quite some time (consider that we never auctioned even one example of it between 1990 and 2017!). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the bottom crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. It had some tiny tears and tiny paper loss in the top and bottom quarters of the vertical fold, with very minor wear on the other folds and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
