Frank Baum; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Judy Garland (as Dorothy), Frank Morgan (in the title role as The Wizard of Oz!), Ray Bolger (as The Scarecrow), Bert Lahr (as The Cowardly Lion), Jack Haley (as The Tin Man), Billie Burke (as Glinda, the Good Witch), Margaret Hamilton (as the Wicked Witch), Charley Grapewin, "The Munchkins", and Toto too! Note that MGM was worried about how well this movie would do at the box office, and they did something we don't remember seeing on any other major movie advertising! One of the taglines says "Biggest sensation since Snow White", which means MGM was advertising a Walt Disney movie, but that shows just how worried they were! Of course, they needn't have worried, because this was a timeless classic that has only improved with age.

Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by FOUR people: Jerry Maren, Meinhardt Raabe, Margaret Pelligrini, AND Clarence Swenson! Our consignor was the marketing director at a theater in Missouri that showed this movie on the opening weekend, and they had four surviving cast members at the theater signing autographs, and the four signed this poster for our consignor, the marketing director. Our consignor told us that he was amazed to discover when talking to the four that none of them had seen the film in a theater since 1939, and he spent much of the movie watching them watch themselves on the big screen! He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signatures are authentic. Also note that this one-sheet measures 27" x 40" [69 x 102 cm]. Also note that this is an advance one-sheet (note the "November 6" at the bottom of the poster). Finally, note that this is a double-sided poster. From the 1990s on, movie posters were often made in double-sided versions (for use in light boxes). If we do not note that a poster is double-sided (as this is), then it is single-sided. Note that the image on the reverse is a mirror image of the image on the front!

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
