Important Added Info: Note that we auctioned a different example of this poster in 1992 (23 years ago!) for $13,200! We had never seen the poster before, and of course, we have looked to find another example of it ever since, but we never did. However, now, our consignor discovered the top two-thirds of this wonderful poster. We had the finest restorer recreate the bottom one-third of the poster, matching it exactly to the high quality image of the poster we auctioned in 1992, so it has been recreated in every detail, and it was done on poster paper, so it looks authentic in every way. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The bottom one-third of the poster was missing. The top two-thirds had paper loss at the crossfold that fell in the left of Powell's shirt, a faint diagonal crease running through part of Rogers' face, and minor wear on the foldlines. It had some pinholes in the corners. The missing bottom third of the poster was expertly recreated (see above). It was done on a separate "one-sheet" sized paper, complete with foldlines, exactly where the folds are on the only complete example of this poster (which we auctioned). It was also placed below the top section slightly unevenly on the right border, again, to exactly match the only complete example. I think it is completely fair to say that the vast majority of collectors would never realize this bottom third was entirely recreated unless they were told it, even after looking at it close up! When the new owner of this poster displays it on their wall, there will be no one to think that it is not the complete poster, unless the owner chooses to tell them! Finally, note that the bottom left of our image had some glare on it. It is very difficult to get an image of a three-sheet without any glare in the corners if they are dark colors. This glare is SOLELY on our digital image, and not at all on the actual poster, which displays fantastically! Learn More about condition grades
